Smashing Bootlegs

Last Sunday, M12, Adun, Koshiko and myself decided to get together for a fun filled event where not many people will do or have seen in the blogsphere world. That’s right my friends, we actually showed how much we hated bootleg figures and boy, did we smash them good. xD
So hit the jump to see how much rage we put in.
As you can see in front of you, we have a set of bootleg Nendoroid Haruhi Suzumiya bunny girl set which was made for WonderFest 2007 Summer exclusive only. Unfortunately, this set belongs to me where I purchased them at a local store in the city half a year ago. If you are shocked of my status where as a figure otaku I can’t tell the difference between real and bootlegs then I’m not surprised myself. It was still early days where I started to really get into this hobby and not only I was naive, I was tempted in the $60AUD price mark. I looked at the nendoroid set for a good 15mins and still I was deceived. It was only a couple of weeks later when I opened it where I found out they put the bootleg set into the REAL box.
While I kinda think I ate the $60 bucks, this incident has made me more wiser and alert to bootleg figures. The way how it tricked me is kinda uncommon with swapping the fake figures and putting them into REAL figure boxes but hey, it can happen so be weary. As for the price, it’s usually a dead set giveaway so don’t give into temptation because as the quote goes “When it’s too good to be true, it’s usually is”.

It must be refreshing after you destroyed them all. In my place, there are some store that sell bootleg figure, but i haven’t seen any store that try to deceive you. All store that sell bootleg here sell their bootleg also with bootleg price (cheapo).

haha, i have several bootlegs also which I got long2 time ago (and one as present from my friend…). I can’t break those haha

I got them from a store in one of the city arcades. Unfortunately I don’t remember the arcade name but the store was called “Kawaii”. Ironic isn’t!? lol

I feel sorry for all of your figures (autenthics as well as these 3). Such heartless owners for them. Someone could have had the day of their life by getting those 3, bootleg or not, because they don’t have ANY figures at all. And yet you go on like 3 year olds and destroy anything that is not ‘perfect’ for your taste. Grow up already. You know the value of nothing. And yes I know the difference between real deal and bootlegs , I have a collection myself (quite a big one actually) and yes there is a fake figure, the first one I got, after that I was more careful. I couldn’t force myself to go and break something someone else would cry for. It’s just plain stupid.

U misunderstood that I’m making a point that I hate bootlegs and what I do with them is completely up to me. If i wanna smash them, throw them in the bin, burn them, then that’s completely up to me.
Giving bootlegs to other people means supporting their actions and their motives in continuing to make them.

I hope you won’t have money for figures in the future.
If you think it’s right to do like you did, then may I ask what you will do to ‘less valuable’ people? (e.g:the likes of me or enemies of yours) Will you smash them as well if they’re not good enough? This is violence. I understand that you hate them, but throwing them out and smashing them like a retarded person are different you know. And you were even proud of yourselves…But it’s YOUR choice of course.
