A few weeks back, I decided to pickup this artbook alongside with my monthly Megami edition as mentioned in one of my goods post. After flicking through, I decided to give a brief review about the beauty of her works.
So hit the jump to read more and for a sneak peak. ^^
First off, I mentioned in my last artbook review where I don’t collect artbooks at all. Well, unfortunately I take that back because a certain somebody was able to talk me into it and waste more of my money. >_<
Still, I have my limits even though I have a tiny collection at the moment. When I say tiny, I mean no more than 5 and it will remain that way due to the price hike. Yes, everything is getting more expensive and it’s not just figures. @_@
As most of you may already know, Kei is the artist behind the hugely popular Vocaloid 2 software mascots. The most popular is without a doubt Hatsune Miku. As her first official artbook, I thougth it was worth every cent. Containing 144 pages of beautiful and lush watercoloured and CG illustrations featuring Miku, Len and Rin and other original characters from many hit series like FLCL, Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na ~Crescent Love~, Guilty Gear etc. I was amazed at the illustration as I flicked through.
While there was a lot of unknown characters from series where I never heard before, you just have to appreciate the detail and effort she has put on to every drawing. Quite frankly, I reckon it’s worth more than the $64AUD price tag that I paid for because work like these are just rare to come by.
Here’s a sneak peek. ^^

OMG, shana-chan :3

An artbook worth collecting for anyone who appreciates art. Believe me, you won’t regret it as this was just a taste of WOWNESS!!!. ^^
If your in the Sydney area, Kinokuniya has a few copies left. For international readers, I would suggest to check out these places: Hobby Search, Kid Nemo, Akadot Retail.

I love this book. It’s got a fair amount of moe-moe, which is no surprise considering Miku Hatsune, but I also like the fancy backgrounds. I wish I could come up with a better phrase than “fancy backgrounds” to describe it, but you know what I mean: there’s a lot more to Kei’s art style than just the (awesome) character designs, and it made me enjoy the book a lot more than I expected to.
