Megami Deluxe Vol. 12: My Impressions

The first Deluxe edition of the year is out and as always, on my monthly trips to Kinokuniya, I was able to snag a copy from the shelf. ^^
As most people are now familiar, the Deluxe edition is a magazine artbook containing illustrations from the past regular megami volumes. The differences is, there are no anime and character catch ups like you see from the other regular volumes and most of the illustrations are the same from the posters.
Gakken Mook releases 2 volumes each year and this is the first.
Note: The Megami Super Deluxe was a special volume from the regular releases in case you got confused.
(Just a reminder guys, Fancybox for WP is active for all current and future magazine reviews. Just click on any of the images and you will see what I mean. Another benefit than to easy navigate through the images is you can see the images at full resolution. I hope some people will benefit from this feature. ^^)

Mega Poster
Side 1: Kannagi
Side 2: Nagisa from Clannad
Overall, I loved this volume very much. Given with the low AUD which means the price hike of the magazines, it was still worth it. There was some nice favourites from Clannad, Toradora!, Kannagi and Zero no Tsukaima and some new additions not seen from the regular issues like Macross Frontier.
The one I thought which stood out the most was the Nagisa side of the mega poster. I’ve seen a lot of beautiful Nagisa illustrations but this one tops them all. I reckon the dress and the flowers just made her look more beautiful, not that she is already not. This one going up on my wall for sure. ^^
Surprisingly, I can’t find this volume available or even listed up for pre-order at my popular online stores for readers who are interested in grabbing a copy. I will make a note when it becomes available. In the meantime, check you local Kino store if possible.

Saw this at Kino a few days ago, was quite tempted to purchase it. I was wondering whether I should buy this, but since there isn’t a Toradora poster, I guess not :P

I must admit, I’m rather surprised at how risque some of the images are.

Some of those pics look great but I still find it interesting to see how easily Megami wavers from cute/moe to ecchi to almost hentai. Something for everyone I guess :P

Ahh i just love those Akikan Posters !
I just bought the regular Megami and it was quite a letdown to me.
I dont like Clannad and three Clannad posters were a bit overkill for me.
Atleast it has a Kanzaki Kaori Poster :D

I would like to know that too lol. Kinokuniya (a Japanese-based bookstore in Singapore) didn’t put price tags on it… and I couldn’t find how much it was in Yen.

I checked the scans a few days ago. This edition is definitely for me. I’m grabbing it on Sunday as Kino don’t have them in stock yet on the night I got the deluxe.

Those posters serve as a nice tribute to Clannad’s conclusion. Ah, good old Kannagi and Toradora. I appreciate how Macross’ artwork remains clean even on Megami. Ranka Lee, cute as hell!

Actually the first megami I bought was megami deluxe, but I never buy them again xD I’d rather stick with the monthly megami, well need to cut down on expenses as well x3

Vol. 108 serves as a better conclusion IMO but yeah, the Macross serves are a pretty neat addition.

yum, so many characters i like ^__^
tamanee, nagi, pretty much anyone from akane iro, kanu, index (despite not being the star of her own show ^^; …and unfortunately yes, i think i prefer biribiri or kaori ^^;… but i still like index! ^^;), gah pretty much everyone you showed ‘cept the clannad girls (haven’t started that yet, orz) and macross (another series i have yet to start)
