Mikuru all Grown up

1/8 scale Mikuru Adult Ver. by Max Factory

img_1147

Today, I got off my lazy ass and decided to do a figure shoot I said I will do during my break. Knowing I have all the time in the world to do figure shoots during the break, it was a matter of motivation and this last week, I had none of that at all. Gaming and Anime-ing (Don’t know if that’s really a word) was on my mind instead.

As mentioned 2 weeks back, the figure I’m reviewing today is  1/8 scale Mikuru Adult ver. by Max Factory. Before I jump the gun, this review could be bias because I am a Mikuru fanboy. Just keep that mind if you disagree on what I say about her.

If you haven’t noticed until now, she make it my 8th Mikuru figure in my collection. As a Mikuru fanboy, I felt my little Mikuru collection won’t be complete without her despite the somewhat boring pose and general outfit. Having said that, I find Max Factory still put in a lot of effort into getting her right. The quality of the scuplt is fantastic, they paid attention to the details like the seam lines of her outfit, the hair and the other bits and pieces you will expect from Max Factory.
One thing I want to mention is her shirt material. It’s not mentioned from the box but her shirt material is the same material used in the POLO system. While I will admit for a second I thought she was castoff-able, the material is to easily allow you to open up her shift more so you can see her most famous star shaped moe, where I can tell you now, it merely looks like a speck of dust. While I was disappointed, the open up cleavage makes it up. xD
One other note I want to mention, she comes with two extra facial expressions and an interchangeable right arm for the “HIMITSU” expression which is my favourite. ^^

Nice legs. They are the legs of a Women you know. xD

As you compare from the 2 shots above, you can see the cleavage.

See, I told you so. :)

As you may have noticed, this is my first proper setup shoot. I’ve used 2 daylight light bulbs where 1 lamp is at the top and the other situated on the right at a 45 degree angle.  I forgot to take a shot at the setup so I can give you a better idea of what it looks like but in the meantime, I can already see many areas which need improvements like elimination the shadows and the colour variation from the lighting. Will a 3rd light bulb be necessary to eliminate some of these factors? Any tips would be appreciated.

Still available at HLJ, she a gorgeous addition to any collection especially the Mikuru fanboys and girls out there. xD

    you forgot to lift her skirt to reveal a wonderful surprise. you don’t need a third light bulb, you can use a reflector to remove the shadows.

    Good stuff. I was trying to do something like that but unfortunately I can’t find a third lamp to use (nor could I find a reflector >.<).

    @Zen: Did you pick out that spelling error? Or was it just a comment?

    mikuru-chan~ or is it san now? :P i’m afraid if i keep watching haruhi s2 i will end up regretting not getting her ^^;; already wishing i had picked up the rest of the gekisou gang.

    i think as otaku dan says you don’t necessarily need another lamp - as i keep forgetting for my own stuff you don’t necessarily want to eliminate shadows, but often times just soften them - which the reflector will help do. I had success with just a sheet of white poster board (later tried covering it with foil, not sure if it made a difference thou ^^;). also nice soft light does wonders so if you’re not already using a diffuser that will help too.

    anyhow, enjoyed the review! does seem to be just a speck ^^;;

    Wuhuhuh you’re planning to make your Mikuru collection as complete as possible? ^^

    Adult Mikuru is a nice change from other figures. It’s interesting to see that they’ve the birthmark too. Is it just a dot or really a star shape btw?

    An attractive sculpture. But I don’t like this grown-up adaptation of the character. I don’t find the adorable appearance of Mikuru with her strict clothes and her red lips..

    But thanks for this presentation

    Wow, MaxFact didn’t forget to put her mole, haha.

    You know, seeing Mikuru with lipstick on her lips is kinda weird to me. But she’s just too sexy, with that boobs of course.

    @zenical
    if her stockings were castoff-able the maybe. xD
    yes, ur “forever-17-hocchan”. This madness will never stop. lol

    @Otaku Dan
    hahaha. I try not to think about it. :P
    Thanks for the tip. Need to re-read ur reflector tutorial.

    @GNdynames
    I already had the lamps but just the bulbs I needed to buy. When u get the time, do try it.

    @RyoBase
    Does OL stand for Old Lady? 0_0

    @meronpan
    LOL, come on matey. She is worth it. Very sexy indeed. xD
    I appreciate the feedback. I will see what I can do next time round and implement some of these ideas.

    @Snark
    It’s not just the tits man, it’s also about the legs.

    @Q
    I’m trying to have as many unique Mikuru as possible. It will look complete to me if each one is different from the others.
    It’s just a dot BUT, if I had a magnify glass then maybe I can give u a 100% confirmation. lol

    @Leonia
    Thanks. It’s sad u feel this way but hey, everyone has their own opinions.

    @sonic_ver2
    Her lipstick make her look very grown up. xD

    @GNdynames
    Let me correct that. thanks

    @Wolfheinrich
    Tell her out. There no beauty outside the box. -_-

    @Smithy
    It’s the lighting and not the figure itself. It’s Max Factory quality as always.

    @phossil
    One of the letdowns unfortunately. >_>
