Today marks a new beginning of my popular “Impression” reviews on the newly created Jpop category. As I continue striving to bring out the most informative and at the same time, enjoyable reviews on figure and figmas and magazine and artbooks, I hope you will see this new category of reviews beneficial whether your into Jpop or not. As my aim is to continue attracting as many new readers as possible, I hope this new section of reviews can help me continue achieving that goal. There’s nothing more fun than talking about the things we love right? xD
So to kick things off, I’m proud to present my first Jpop Impression review which was poisoned by Zenical. LOL
Ultimate Diamond by Nana Mizuki is Nana 7th album release and my first official album from her. I’ve got to know her well from the seiyuu role of Fate from the popular anime series “Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha”. I’m sure many people got to know her well through that way as well because of their love or ‘obsession’ with Fate. In addition, she sang the OP’s for all 3 seasons and that was somewhat a turning point for me where I felt she was a great singer and performer as well.
The album book features so nice pictures of Nana
Moving back to the actual album, I managed to grab the Limited Edition before it was sold out. Surprisingly, it’s available at this very moment so take advantage of it before it disappears for good. The difference between the Regular and the Limited edition, is the Limited edition comes with a bonus DVD of her live October 2008 “Nana Mizuki Oini Utau” performance. I managed to watch the performance yesterday and quite frankly I thought it was boring BECAUSE I don’t understand what the story was about. There was a lot of talking and Nana slicing other people ass on stage but that’s all I remember while I was fast-forwarding to her live performance on the show.
She sang 2 songs in the live performance and I thought it was beautiful. Now I understand why a few people prefer LIVE rather than PV’s. *Looks at Zen* >_>.
Packed in a nice slipcase, the Limited edition is worth buying while it’s still available. The album itself is just fantastic and it’s everything anyone will expect from Nana. The album features a total of 15 songs and my current favourites include, Astrogation, Etsuraku Camellia, Shinai, Trickster, Gimmick Game and COSMIC LOVE. Honestly, when I give the album a full run, I just love them all. There’s just so much variety in the music, it’s hard not to love them all.
Here’s a few of my favourites I managed to dig up from youtube which some includes the PV. I hope you enjoy them all.
Both Limited and Regular edition are still available at cdjapan so if you love Nana and/or you are impressed in what you’ve read and seen, do BUY IT. Every cent is worth it.
Etsuraku Camellia
Trickster
Gimmick Game
COSMIC LOVE

Unfortunately, for a guy that doesn’t get paid for his work and has only scholarships to fund his interests, it’s either figures or this, and I’m for figures. Of course time is also another factor. I take a moment look at my figures before I leave for class or before I go to bed, I know I’ve got no time to listen to much during any other time (especially not before bed, because I’m really bad at falling asleep).

Nana Mizuki has some nice songs and she did some music for Shugo Chara ;) But you’ve picked yet another expensive hobby here ^^; Japanese music is expensive to begin with, having to import it just makes it worse >_< Hope you have fun with it though :)

@zenical
I already did. The dark side is EVIL. -_-
The thing that hurts the most now is my wallet.
@GNdynames
That’s cool GNdynames. I understand ur situation. Like when I was in college, I relied on government paid allowances to get me through the day. Despite working part time as well, I had to save up for the essentials like my college books. The thing is, when I was in college, I wasn’t into anime as much to start spending. I would buy a boxset every 4 so months but that’s it.
One of the reasons why I’m not too concerned about my financial situations is because I know I can earn that money back easily and as I continue make sacrifices along the way on the things I don’t ‘really’ want, I should be fine in the long term.
It’s similar to equivalent exchange if u think about it. lol
@anonymous_object
I know.
That’s why figures is taking the biggest cutback to fund this hobby. Also, it force me to makes selective ones which is good in the long term.
@Seinime
Welcome to the zone Seinime. I hope u stick around. ^^
Thanks. I wouldn’t say I’m the best but I always give the best. lol
@valho
