My Fall 2009 Line up

3 Oct
2009

fall-2009-v3-export2

With Fall Season upon us, many of you have already decided which series you are watching and/or giving it a go.
So keeping the intro short, here are my picks for this year Fall season.

Surprisingly, I didn’t know a majority of the Fall series was about to begin this week until 2 or 3 days ago. I’ve been so busy caught up with work and finishing up on series from last season and the season before where time flies before you even know what’s gonna happen next  and what to look out for.

Skimming through the list this season, there isn’t any anticipated series I am looking forward to. A majority of them I’m picking up are manly sequels I want to continue and finish. If I had to choose for one series I’m really looking forward to then it will have to be To Aru Kagaku no Railgun because the original series was just explosive and it stayed that way to the end.

Note: Images are borrowed from Zotaku. The team did a good job in cropping them so I decided to use them because I’ve been ‘busy’. :P
Another note: Info. about each series are sourced from ANN.

toarubiribirimikfall_09_4

To Aru Kagaku no Railgun

To Aru Kagaku no Railgun is not actually a a sequel to the first series but more of a spinoff based on the original manga. Checking out the information, it focus more on the adventures of Mikoto Misaka, one of the Level 5 psychics and her friends in Academy City.
Considering I loved the original series, I’m kinda excited about the spinoff but Mikoto is not my favourite character and I don’t like her so that’s where the anticipation dies here. Hopefully the action and excitement will be enough to make me like her. There’s no harm in trying to like a character from a spinoff right? lol

whitealbumfall09_s2-9

White Album (Continues)

I say White Album “continues” rather than saying it’s a sequel or season 2 because it’s clear they stopped it after ep. 13 and decided it continue it 2 season afterwards. After giving the first 6 episodes a go, I thought it was going great and then it all went downhill from there. I thought I will just finish it and see how the outcome pans out with the relationship between Tōya and Yuki and Rina but near the end I found out that wasn’t end at all and instead it was ‘to be continued’. >_<
If I wasn’t a seiyuu fan, I would careless how it all f*cken ends but considering I’m a Nana fanboy, I’m watching it FOR Nana. LOL

nogizaseason2_fall09otak3

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu: Purezza

If you watched the 1st season then you shouldn’t expect many surprises from the 2nd. I know I’m not but as I really enjoyed the 1st season, I’m looking forward to more laughs, more cosplays and hopefully less stupidity from the 2nd. I hope Yuto and Haruka relationship will go more in-dept and hopefully a visible kiss scene can be seen. Like come on, what is there to hide? Don’t treat your viewers like kids!!! >_<

darkerblacck_fal09z2

Darker Than Black: Ryuusei no Gemini

WOOT!!! Hie and Yin are back. Despite getting into the series very late, this was clearly one of the best series from 2007 and returning with a sequel is kinda exciting. As the story kicks in 2 years after escaping the Syndicate, I wonder what new adventures lies ahead for the both of them. As they meet new people along the way, there will certainly encounter new problems and off course, new battles with different enemies.
I’m confident I will love sequel just as much as the first season.

kampfer_zofal09

Kampfer

After the 1st episode finished off quite suspenseful, I’m kinda looking forward to the 2nd one but before that, first 10mins into the series I was asking myself, ‘why the hell Zen recommended me this?’. Off course, she doesn’t need to think twice about any series when Hocchan is in it. lol
Having said, I’m a Hocchan fanboy myself but still there are series I won’t bother with if it’s dead boring no matter whose in it. Despite that, the first episode turned out great and with other favourites like Marina Inoue, Nana Mizuki and Yukari Tamura (Nanoha XD), it sure will be a popular hit this season.

shinmusourom3_fal09zz

Shin Koihime†Musou

After enjoying the original Koihime†Musou despite how crappy the storyline was and dull the battles were, I’m kinda looking forward to the next adaption. Checking the information around, I know it’s not a sequel but more of a re-telling of the original series but this time, focusing more on the girl in the middle (don’t her name unfortunately) rather than Kanu.
This is kinda sad for me really because I actually love like Kanu but I will see how it pans out. Maybe the story focus on both the girls. Anyway, the erotic jokes is what I’m really looking forward to. xD
They make ‘nice’ entertainment. :P

sasamekikoto_falo9zo

Sasameki Koto

Summary
Murasame Sumika is popular in the high school for her excellence in the marks and sports. However, she has a secret: she is in love with her classmate Kazama Ushio. Ushio also has a liking to the love between girls, but she hasn’t noticed Sumika’s feeling and always been refused by other girls.

Based on the summary, I’m gonna give it go and:

Guuzen – Oh damn, am I the only one who is going to give this series a shot? Oh well I guess it can’t hurt to try =(.

Quote from Guuzen from Zotaku

Your not alone mate. :D

shana_z0ovafall009

Shakugan no Shana S

And finally, the upcoming OVA of the Shana saga before the 3rd and final season. The OVA will focus on the background of the characters and their deep relationships according to the producer before diving into the finale. I find this is a good move because half the characters (especially the villains) we don’t know too much about except for their dangerous looks and kick-ass weapons and magic.

So that’s ends the run down of this season. I hope you enjoyed it and had a few laughs. I know I did when I wrote this up. It’s me speaking from the mind. xD
If you have other recommendations, please feel free to share and I may peak an interest but other than that, these series will definitely keep me busy for the rest of the season.

So what series are you watching and/or giving it a go?

This season looks really hot. I need to pick up on the first season of Haruka, I still didn’t catch any Shakugan no Shana, Kampfer looks interesting, Misako Mikoto is my undying eternal love ( ;) ) and I’m also interested in The Sacred Blacksmith, though cautious, and 11eyes looks… intriguing.

I’ve kind of given up on trying to decide what to watch based on previews and short descriptions. Takes too much time and dedication. I’ll just wait until friends watch the new shows and help me determine what is worth watching ;)

Anonymous Object, I agree. Especially since I enjoy watching series in one show, so I usually wait till the series, or at least the season, ends, before picking up anything :D

I rarely follow the anime season as it is, I usually watch whatever considered good afterward, but I made an exception for Saki last season in which I followed it pretty much from the beginning. Shin Koihime†Musou looks interesting despite I never finished the original, Kampfer looks interesting too.

A lot of the series are either sequels or spin-offs, and as I haven’t watched a lot of them before I have to give them a pass.

Was not too happy about the second season, but I do hope that Shana OVA will shed some light for me – or else I will have to end up going through the novels again.

I’m definitely going to watch “Sasameki Koto” (it’s a yuri series, how could I not watch it), “Kämpfer”, “Shin Koihime†Musou”, “Darker Than Black: Ryuusei no Gemini” and “Queen’s Blade 2″.

Loved the first episode of”Kämpfer”, I mean how could you not, the premise with Natsuru turning into a girl is already pure win. Judging by the first episode, if it follows the manga and light novels this show might be a nice mix of action, comedy and some ecchi yuri spiced scenes.

Besides, Marina Inoue perfectly voices Natsuru, switching from a boyish voice like Wataru in “Hayate No Gotoku!” to one similar to Kana in “Minami-ke”. Yui Horie amazes even more with her seamless transition from shy bookworm girl to foul mouthed tomboy. Their performance alone makes this series worthwhile to watch.

The “Shin Koihime†Musou” game was a re-telling of “Koihime†Musou” with less Kan’u, but judging from the preview I saw of the “Shin Koihime†Musou” anime it could very well turn out to be a sequel to the first anime series which was excellent as a mindless totally crazy and fun entertainment series.

Q, this is a perfect excuse to marathon the first seasons! :D

For instance, this makes me want to take up Shana and Haruka, that is, it reminds me I need to watch them.

Most of the anime in your list are continuation. Are there not much of original anime that get your interest? Or are they just plain bad?

@zenical
Busy organising and saving up for my SG trip. That’s why I’m busy.lol
I have yet to start on Aoi Hana because I’m for the complete series first. U know me, I tend to like watching it at my own pace instead of waiting for the subs.

@Panther
I’ve decided to give Nyan Koi a miss. There is just too many already I’m watching and I decided to just pick up the sequels this season.

@guuzen
hahaha. I didn’t want u to feel lonely in picking it up. xD

@Guy
Misako Mikoto is ur eternal love huh, interesting. lol
Kampfer is awesome. Do give it a go and I’m shocked ur haven’t caught the Shana series yet. ><

@anonymous_object
Then the first impression posts from various blogs will suit u. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time and/or effort to do them. :(

@meronpan
I use to give each show a chance while I was still in college but now, that’s not possible. If u tell me to skip work for it, I can’t do that. lol
As shana, nogizaka, koihime, & railgun are familiar series to u considering a few a sequels, then they should be enough to keep u busy.

@Wolfheinrich
I dropped Saki after ep. 3. Because of the jargon of mahjong and not understanding how to play the game to begin with, I’ve lost interest very quickly and moved on. Yeah, even the fanservice level was not enough to keep me interested. lol

@Q
I guess I’m one of the few who really loved the 2nd Season. Shame u didn’t find it all impressive but hopefully the OVA will shed some light on ya.

@animecollector100
Welcome. I hope u love my site just as much as ur. :)
In this case, this season could be ur best.

@Smithy
With the production of Kämpfer being able to get some of the best seiyuu’s for this project, it’s definitely one of the most watched and talked about series this season. Definitely many of their roles involve many transitions and I reckon this is where their performance will shine.
I hope the re-telling will be slightly better than the original, story-wise. -_-

@Gordanham
Ehh, which series is that again? lol

@sonic_ver2
I haven’t looked into much detail about them. This season, I decided to focus more on the sequels. I’m not sure if the originals are good or not but I will see depending who subs what etc.

@Yi
Looks like everyone is giving that a go. lol

@phossil
The OP looks epic already so I having high hopes. :)

@Blowfish
LOL, hopefully they didn’t failed u. :P

@Reijin
Enjoy Adelaide man. There series are just starting and they aren’t finishing anytime soon. lol

Don’t burn yourself too much. It’s impossible to catch all the anime in the world. -_-

I use do that but now, I don’t have the time anymore. :(
