Anime DVD’s, Magazines and PS3 Game

Yesterday I received my batch of DVD’s from rightstuf.com after it was backlogged for quite some time. In addition, I headed to my local Kinokuniya before work to pick my usual magazines and see what else they have interesting on the shelf. After that, I hoped downstairs and headed to JB-Hifi to pick up a certain PS3 game that was released today.
So what Anime DVD’s, magazines and PS3 game I got, lets jump into it together shall we. :D
First up, the 4 boxset from rightstuf is as shown as above. They are:
- Rozen Maiden: Traumend
- Gunslinger Girl: Teatrino
- School Rumble Season 1 + OVA (Extra Class)
- Sola
To begin with, the Sola boxset is not mine, it’s an order for a friend. He’s been waiting for the Sola boxset for a long time and considering he doesn’t want to go through all the registration work in signing up and verifying your credit etc. he wanted me to add it into my order. I didn’t mind considering the shipping is cheap when you buy anymore than 1 item regardless if it’s 1 DVD or 1 boxset. Still, the US is better off as postage is free there at a certain limit.
Gunslinger Girl: Teatrino and School Rumble Season 1 was picked up from the Funimation sale they had early last month. Intentionally I was planning to pick up School Rumble locally but the price here is not as welcoming as the price during the sale. Considering the Aussie exchange rate is good now, I still save heaps. Gunslinger Girl: Teatrino was a no-brainier as I’m a big fanboy of the series and as for Rozen Maiden: Traumend, it was another no-brainier considering I’m a huge fanboy of the series as well. Saw it in the weekly specials bin so why not as it was half price as well. ^^
Next up is the 2 magazines from Kinokuniya. As seen above, they are:
- Nyantype Vol. 3
- Megami Magazine Vol. 114
Unfortunately I missed out on Megami Vol. 113. I knew I had a chance to pick it up if I went to Kino during that week it was in stock but I couldn’t be bothered and I decided not to as I kinda went over budget last month. Despite that, there was really only one poster I wanted in that issue and to my surprise, it has reappeared in this volume but in a different format.
I’m just happy (and lucky) I didn’t need to pay $24 bucks just to get it. You will find out soon what it is. xD
Last but not least, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 was the PS3 game I picked up at JB-Hifi. I decided to grab the collector’s edition for an extra $20 bucks and wow, it was sooooooo worth it.
The collector’s edition comes with a mini artbook/comic book which includes a little mini -strategy guide inside and the OST. Flicking through the artbook, there are some top-notch illustrations and the comic segment is pretty good. In addition, it includes a segment about the creators of the game. I can tell you, this book alone is worth more than $20 bucks and considering it’s bundled with the OST, your looking at a value of $50 bucks for just an extra $20. The game alone will cost you $95~$100AUD so why not go for the collector’s edition?
Each collector’s edition comes with a code to download a free costume. ^^
I would suggest to get it now before it’s too late as I’m sure they will sell like hotdogs. :)
Well that’s it for the week. I’ve got another 3 shift long weekend coming up and considering it’s not a long weekend compared to last week, it is for me and I need to be mentally prepared for it. -_-

I got the costume code as well, but I bought the normal edition :D bought on day 1 when it was released in Japan tho, day 1 (and pre-order) bonus was the comic + mini guide book and the costume code :D
The OZ collection edition doesn’t have the small metal katana and the character keyrings? ouch, we got screwed

Still on the fence about the new Gunslinger Girls anime. I heard a lot of negative things, especially about the animation style (looking cheap and whatnot). Still, I loved the manga and am very tempted to pick up the thinpack.
From what I’ve seen of Nyan Type 3 and Oct 2009 Megami, no one is wasting their money picking one or both of them up. Rather good issues that seem to be trying to one up the other in eye candy. Perversions aside, having that Biri-biri Megami cover on such a huge pre-removed poster was worth the price of admission alone in my opinion. :3

Damn, the megami magazine surely looks great here. Railgun duo yuri is always a turn on. XD
Anyway, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is surely sick! I’d like to get it but still, i have to save my money first….

Nice buys, especially Il Teatrino. That’s something that is hard to find online, and I just love Gunslinger Girl.

Too bad we don’t have that Kino bookstore here, the only thing our local J-Town bookstore stocks is New-Type (and I think I was the only one that bought an issue there).
I’ve yet to watch the second season of Gunslinger Girl (the last ep of season 1 sent me running out of the room where our club was showing it =S

Doesn’t all PAL releases get screwed?
Not only we get games very late, there isn’t many extra content provided for us to justify the lateness. Usually the game might come in WS format for us but that’s old news now. T_T

I am using Akismet as a second line of defense. The whole purpose in this math protection is to stop the bots from automatically submitting their comment. I grew tired cleaning out my spam box and each time if there is something in my spam box, I know it’s legitimate in some way. Besides, aren’t u tired in clearing out ur spam box. We get enough to this shit in our gmail accounts already.

I agree on a certain degree. Both issues this month may not be up ur taste but it could be for others. I thought both issues was great but they each do have their downside. Maybe it’s just me but I managed to get something out of both of them.

It’s still available at rightstuf. It’s not hard at all. There 2nd season isn’t that popular as many viewers slammed the animation quality.

I can’t believe so many people live close to a Kinokuniya… Life is unfair as I continue to pay over the odds for shipping ;P I’m so out of the DVD buying scene, but I didn’t realize Gunslinger Girl: Teatrino was already out…. must get.

Magazines look great! I wish I could read Japanese… but I guess the pictures & posters are always fun to look at xP

Yeah, I get that all the time. I guess I call myself lucky being able to make trips to Kino whenever I like.
Gunslinger Girl 2 is a good buy. No regrets. :)

No neck cushion. That a was limited release from Vol. 2. You had to cut out a coupon to send it with cash to receive one.

I was bought this for ninja it is one of the my favorite games .In this they provide us very useful information .
In future edition I am expect this things.
