Megami Magazine Vol. 114: My Impressions

Yesterday, I gave my impressions about Nyantype Vol. 3 and my overall thoughts was an above average volume compared to Megami and the previous 2 volumes of Nyantype.
So what makes Megami Vol. 114 far more superior than Nyantype Vol. 3? Well, other than the level of quality posters provided, Megami offered more variety of character illustrations from current and past series on the posters and their extra goodies, I reckon were a more favorable taste to many anime lovers and collectors out there.
So this month volume (like any other month) featured a few articles from the recently begun Fall season. A few examples includes Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A’s (it was basically a recap of the events since the 1st movie coming up). Shin Koihime Musou, Saki, Spice and Wolf II, Princess Lover! and Kanamemo.
While these articles might be useless information to us, I find this volume attend grabbers goes to the 2 extra goodies included inside. They are a reversible B2 (Mega) poster featuring Vivio from StrikerS and the Misaka sisters from To Aru Kagaku no Railgun and the reversible pencil board featuring characters from Fate/stay night and Mahoromatic.
If you may recall in my previous loot post, I mentioned there was only one poster I wanted in Vol. 113 and it was the Fate/stay night B2 poster featuring Saber and Rin. Unfortunately, I missed out on that issue as it was a hot buy here and I was slow but now I have no regrets in missing it out as that illustration of Saber and Rin has reappeared on pencil board format.

So if you have been contemplating whether to grab this volume or not, I can honestly say this one a must GET!!!. The result shows this volumes has ‘bang’ for it’s bucks and if the Mio poster wasn’t able to convince you then I’m confident the others will including the pencil board and the B2 poster.
Still available at Hobby Search and HLJ, grab your copy today. Your local bookstore should have a few copies on the shelf as well (unless it’s a big seller there) so don’t miss your chance.

And finally, I hope you enjoyed this review because sadly, it is my FINAL review from the regular editions. I still intend to collect and review the Deluxe editions as there’s only 2 volumes per a year. The reason behind this is simple, cutting back on carefree spending. As priorities in life becomes clear, we all have to make sacrifices to cater for them and this is just ONE of the many I’m making first.
I hope you all enjoyed all of my regular editions reviews. I had fun writing them up and trying to poison you to buy them and I hope you all enjoyed reading them. ^^

The only thing stopping me from buying this is the shipping. Do HLJ only use boxes or something? The shipping here is equivalent to a 1/8 scale figure.

I prefer to have Mio rice bowl poster, but that one is pretty good too ^^ Maybe a Yui poster will be better for me :P

Shame to know that this will be your last review, but at least you end with a volume that you like. At least you’ll still be reviewing DXs so it’s not stopped forever but just cutting back on things!

I really think the Megami Magazine editors work extra hard on months where a Nyantype is coming out… Although Nyantype Saki poster is > Megami Saki poster!

I’m not sure unfortunately because I never ordered any magazines from online retailers. Looking at the price, I think they package it with bubble wrap if u get it alone. Sorry dude, can’t really help ya with this one. :(

Yeah, I knew it was coming. There’s always a beginning and a end to the kind of purchases I make and unfortunately the run of regular volumes of Megami is over. U could say the same for Nyantype as well as it’s pretty much the same. But like u said, it’s not all over as I’m still continuing the Dx volumes. ^^

The Battle of delivering the best bishōjo magazines to it’s community. It’s true, I realised there’s a trend where Gakken work extra hard whenever Nyantype and any others related get’s released on the same month. lol
