The Dangerous Clare from Claymore

1/8 scale No.47 Clare by Megahouse

IMG_2015

It’s been far too long since my last shoot, 3 months to be exact if you want the number. As figure shoots is not what I primarily focus on my blog anymore, it’s still fun and enjoyable to do whenever I’m in the mood for it or when watching anime and playing games becomes a bit repetitive in my daily routine.

This week, I decided to try something different and not just make it a shoot for the week. Instead I will be bringing out 5 shoots in 5 days so 1 shoot per a day for 5 days. Off course, life is unpredictable at times and while I can’t guarantee a shoot per a day, I will do my best to bring out the 5 shoots by the end of this week  if that was the case.

So lets get started shall we. :)

First shoot to start off the 5 shoots in 5 days is Megahouse Clare from the most popular manga and anime series Claymore. I say popular because it is without a doubt one of the most watched series back in mid 2007 and it’s still ranked as one of my top 10 series of all time. The storyline was just thrilling and in-dept and so was the character development but one thing which kept asking me for more was the constant turn of events and surprises. The surprises was really unpredictable (given the fact I never read the manga). ^^

Moving along to the figure. Originally released towards the end of 2007, Megahouse No. 47 Clare was the first Claymore figure to be announced just after the end of the series. I managed to make my preorder early at Play-asia when they listed her up and thankfully I did because preorder slots closed a few days afterwards from many major online retailers from what I remember.  Clearly she was one of the most ‘wanted’ figures at that time. Off course, many Clare fanboys missed out and due to popular demand, Megahouse re-release her at the start of this year (from what I recall) and certain it was your last chance to get her before she disappeared for good.

While it’s an old figure in my collection, I still consider it as one of the best. Megahouse really got the details right and the glossy armor is a very nice touch to the overall appeal. She also comes along with an interchangeable arm of Elena so many can display her with the power of Elena in her right arm. Elena was so cool, I just can’t help but to display her attached with Elena arm all the time. xD
The only downside about  her I could think off was the grip of both arms holding sword. The arms are very loose in holding the sword and if the sword is not touching the ground, it will slide off easily hence that is why I have her sword placed behind her cape. Heck I prefer it take way anyway. ^^

Yes that’s a scratch on the sword :(

She’s not available anymore at major online retailers so best of luck in trying to find her. She’s an old release now but if Claymore is still one of your favourite series of all time then I really recommend you working your ass in trying to find her as she is the best Clare figure out there to date.

Look forward to my next shoot. ^^

Crazy awesome figure. But then again, what would you expect from one of the manliest characters in all of anime?

It is nice, but it is also quite boring. I am not sure how the figure could be made more vivid, more alive, considering the colour-palette used. I am not a fan of how metallic and gleaming the metal armour-plates are. I’d have liked them less reflective, for one.

I like the sword, and how it can be held across her back.

I dunno, looks pretty cool to me. I especially like the eyes, they even look kind of watery in some of your shots like IMG 2015 and IMG 2016; kind of creepy :D Those skin tones really make it work.

I absolutely love Claymore and Clare, so this figure is great. Pity that there’s not more Claymore figures, especially Teresa…Anyway, nice photoshoot…it is always tough to shoot figures with shiny armour because of the reflective nature.

Not sure if you realised though that Clare’s Claymore sword is supposed to fit smudgely into her cape. The sword can be divided at the handle area and meant to reconnect when you slide the blade part from under and the handle from the top.

A bit plain but that’s kind of how Claire was in the series. Her eyes seem a bit glazed over too but overall a pretty good rendering of an uber-cool character ^^.

Now thats what the Blowfish needs :P

Ive got the Re-release and I was really happy to snatch her.Loved her Character and Claymore and display her with the optional Arm like you do.
Its kinda a shame that her hands are that loose.

Lemme guess that scratch comes from trying to push the sword into her sheath? As ELtboy said you can disaassemble the sword to put it into her sheath.

Thats why MH should finally add Instructions for their figures

@Snark
For once we are speaking the same language. lol
I’m sooo looking forward in grabbing boxset when it’s out. Rewatching the Claymore series on DVD is gonna be sick. xd

@Guy
Well that’s how she looks like in the series so I don’t know what more can be done to make it more alive. She looks alive and real now. xD
I reckon the metallic on the armor plates adds a nice touch to the overall figure.
Clearly you have to watch the show to see how awesome it is. IT REALLY IS!!! xD

@natalie
If you say creepy then Megahouse made a very good Clare because that’s what she looks like in the series.

@ELTboy
ZOMG, are u serious!!!??? I had no idea. This is why figures should have instructions if any parts are detachable. I had her for more than a year now and I didn’t have a single clue. :(

@anonymous_object
Plain and simple is how Clare looks best. ^^

@Blowfish
Looks like I have been ignoring dedicated readers like you who wants to see figure shoots. I thought nobody missed them so I didn’t bother overall. -_-
That’s correct about the scratch. It makes sense now why the sword does not fit into her sheath. -_-

After watching a couple of episodes of the show, I know something they did wrong with the figure: She doesn’t have a humongous upper-lip :D

1 figure post per day for 5 days! o_o

I don’t know much about Clare or Claymore, other than that Clare kicks ass. I do like how the metallic plates shine in contrast to the normal clothings though!

Wow, 5 reviews in 5 days. I should get my ass to watching Claymore now, especially when there’s nothing new to watch. :)

Tommy, it started out pretty weak, and I can’t put my finger on how, but I’m quite enjoying it. Episode 23 got something wrong with it, so getting it again..
