Yesterday, I gave my impressions about Nyantype Vol. 3 and my overall thoughts was an above average volume compared to Megami and the previous 2 volumes of Nyantype.
So what makes Megami Vol. 114 far more superior than Nyantype Vol. 3? Well, other than the level of quality posters provided, Megami offered more variety of character illustrations from current and past series on the posters and their extra goodies, I reckon were a more favorable taste to many anime lovers and collectors out there.

So this month volume (like any other month) featured a few articles from the recently begun Fall season. A few examples includes Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A’s (it was basically a recap of the events since the 1st movie coming up). Shin Koihime Musou, Saki, Spice and Wolf II, Princess Lover! and  Kanamemo.

While these articles might be useless information to us, I find this volume attend grabbers goes to the 2 extra goodies included inside. They are a reversible B2 (Mega) poster featuring Vivio from StrikerS and the Misaka sisters from To Aru Kagaku no Railgun and the reversible pencil board featuring characters from Fate/stay night and Mahoromatic.

If you may recall in my previous loot post, I mentioned there was only one poster I wanted in Vol. 113 and it was the Fate/stay night B2 poster featuring Saber and Rin. Unfortunately, I missed out on that issue as it was a hot buy here and I was slow but now I have no regrets in missing it out as that illustration of Saber and Rin has reappeared on pencil board format.

So if you have been contemplating whether to grab this volume or not, I can honestly say this one a must GET!!!. The result shows this volumes has ‘bang’ for it’s bucks and if the Mio poster wasn’t able to convince you then I’m confident the others will including the pencil board and the B2 poster.

And finally, I hope you enjoyed this review because sadly, it is my FINAL review from the regular editions. I still intend to collect and review the Deluxe editions as there’s only 2 volumes per a year. The reason behind this is simple, cutting back on carefree spending. As priorities in life becomes clear, we all have to make sacrifices to cater for them and this is just ONE of the many I’m making first.
I hope you all enjoyed all of my regular editions reviews.  I had fun writing them up and trying to poison you to buy them and I hope you all enjoyed reading them. ^^

Nyantype Vol. 3 is out and as already mentioned in my previous post, I picked it up alongside with Megami Magazine Vol. 114. Debating which one to review first, I decided to go ahead with Nyantype because I find this volume was somewhat disappointing compared to Megami and the previous 2 volumes of Nyantype.
Off course, as a regular collector of these types of magazines most of the stuff available are already old stuff to me but that doesn’t mean it’s old stuff for  you so lets jump in together and enjoy some new and old yummines. xD

This month volume (as predicted) features many articles from this years Fall lineup. A few featured includes, Seitokai no Ichizon (as series focused with many parodies from what I heard), Kampfer, Shin Koihime Musou, Seiken no Blacksmith, Queen`s Blade: Gyokuza o Tsugu Mono and many more.

The only series I’ve started so far is Kampfer and I’m really enjoying it. While the storyline is solid, I literally can’t take it seriously. Not only it’s funny, I reckon it’s a complete joke because I find the characters know we are watching from the other side. I guess what gave me this idea was when they mention the seiyuu names of each other during the show. LOL

The extra content from this volume is a small (almost A4 size) Nanoha Illustration collection book featuring artworks from posters, featured article illustrations and other forms of medium from the past 2 Nyantype volumes. The disappointing thing is, I already have all the illustrations I wanted in a variety of medium so this book is nothing surprising to me.

Overall, an above average volume compared to the 2 previous Nyantype volumes. The Nanoha illustration book was a nice extra goody but as I already mentioned earlier in having all of the illustrations in different mediums, it’s really nothing special to me.
Other than than,  a few stand out posters which still made this volume worthy to collect are Holo, Mikuru, the gang from Kanamemo, Haruka and Mikoto and her sister having ice-cream by the pool. If the illustrators keeps this up in driving the sexy appeal out of Mikoto then maybe I might like her after all. lol

Readers who are interested in this volume can still grab a copy at Hobby Search.
If your local bookstore is the way go to get your favourite magazines, then I hope this review has convinced you to run out and grab a copy. xD

Megami Deluxe Vol. 13 is the 2nd deluxe edition out for the year. As there are only 2 editions released per a year, this will be the last one for the year sadly.
Still, Gakken Mook always surprises me in selecting the ‘best of the best’ illustrations to be worthy inside. Considering it’s like an artbook, readers need to be pleased in what they will see as it’s not news and previews of anime series, games and goodies they will take in but ‘pleasure’ from many beautiful and sexy illustrations in the end. :D

If you haven’t been collecting the regular editions or you prefer having all the ‘best of the best’ illustrations in one spot (like me) then this is the magazine for you. Fans of the series Saki would not be disappointed as well considering the B2 poster of Saki and the very sexy “Nodocchi” is included. Dam, there was steam coming out of me when I took her shot. xD

Overall, as already said, a very pleasing edition. Considering there’s only 2 editions per a year, I say to you “why not!?”
It’s really money worth for this little beauty. ^^

Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find any listings in any of the popular online stores so I would suggest to check your local Kino or bookstore to see if they have some in stock. Sydney readers, there’s plenty of them at our local Kino. ^^

The 2nd volume of Nyantype is out and as usual, I decided to grab this volume as there are a few awesome and smexy posters I wanted. Before I dig into it, I just wanna note Nyantype  is not a monthly release. I not sure why it’s not but I pretty sure the publisher,  Kadokawa Shoten has it’s own reasons but I’m not disappointed as there’s a good chance I can get every volume if each volume suits my taste without impacting heavily on my wallet. ^^

So what is Nyantype and how is it different to Megami you may ask. Well if you missed my earlier Nyantype Vol. 1 Impression review, both of those questions has already been answered. If your too lazy to read because the images are a big distraction, then this statement should sum up the answer for ya, “It’s similar to Megami or Megami version 2 in other terms”.

This volume featured articles includes Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha: The 1st Movie, K-On!, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Hayate no Gotoku!! and many more. It also has a small column of the latest figures and other goodies coming out in the next few months which include 1/7 scale Saber Lily by GSC, 1/7 scale Nanoha by Alter (can’t wait xD)  and a few more others by Alter and Kotobukiya.

Finally the only extra content provided this month is a B2 poster featuring Nanoha & Fate from the The 1st Movie and Nanoha, Subaru and Teena from the StrikerS series.

I think some ppl will kill for this poster of Fate-chan. :D

Overall, a good issue. Nanoha fans, this is a must get. Non-Nanoha fans, this still a get because I’m sure there’s something in here that tickles your fancy. Be honest. :D

This month Megami edition, Vol. 112 celebrates the 10th anniversary of Megami Magazine. As an anniversary special, Gakken sure packed a punch of contents inside and I find that small price hike was worth the value of what we are getting this month.

So without further hesitation, lets all dig in shall we. xD

With many anniversary specials, most of them like to look back and give readers a flashback on how far they have come. In other terms, it’s like a time line or a progress status from start to finish and clearly this is what Gakken has done. As a “Super Big Present” (as shown above) they showcase all the memorial illustrations from the many popular series that either made it on the front cover or as a B2 poster or in anyway made that volume big in someway.
Stretched across 4 pages, you can really see how far they have come and how the artwork has changed and evolved. It just makes you wonder in a few years down the track how the artwork will change compared to now and how it will impact the animation when it’s turned into a series. Something I thought about when I took a trip down Megami memory lane. ^^

Another section they included as part of their anniversary special is a popularity or favourite section showcasing some of the hit series and characters from the past volumes. (These are just my assumptions off course as it goes back on past volumes.)
I reckon this section highlights nearly all of the characters which made it big on each volume and I do say, many fanboys and fangirls go nuts over them. xD

Even though it’s an anniversary special, it doesn’t mean it’s a whole new Megami volume as what we usually get from each volume remains the same. Some of the featured articles from this month includes Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha: The 1st Movie, K-On!, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Canaan, Bakemonogatari, Spice & Wolf II, Saki, Needless and many more.

The small price hike of this volume was because I reckon, the many extra contents provided which included a Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Sound Stage M4 10th SP drama CD, a StrikerS comic book, a Weib Schwarz Nanoha & Fate trading card and last but not least, my favourite content out of all of them, a B2 poster featuring Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A’s (promo of the psp game) on one side and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha: The 1st Movie on the other.

Overall, a very great volume. Even though the price was slightly higher thanks to the extra content, I thought it was worth it. Really, it was. ^^

I checked out the posters in that volume and I found not a single one was deemed ‘eye-catching’ to me. It’s either because of that or my level of expectation is a lot higher now considering I’ve been a regular buyer for so long. In addition, there was not extra goodie at all so missing that issue was no big loss for me.
Expect many more to come as I slowing begin phasing my regular purchases. Enjoy them while they it last. ^^

This month featured edition is Rebuild of Evangelion: 2.0. I am aware most of you already watched the series many moons ago but unlike me, I’m still following the original series on DVD. I bought my months ago but I’m still at the beginning like at around ep. 5. You could say I’ve been taking my sweet ass lazy time watching it. Other featured articles include Miss Brain, Queen’s Blade: Rurou no Senshi, Sorakake Girl, and Kanokon Season 2. I’m so looking forward to another fun filled ride with Kanokon. Despite how crappy the storyline was, the fanservice makes it up. xD

The extra contents inside this month issue includes a double-sided plastic board featuring K-ON! and Rebuild of Evangelion: 2.0. In addition, it also includes a K-ON! master work booklet featuring the story and the characters of the series. Honestly, the little book looks pretty neat. A very nice addition indeed.

Overall, a very good issue. A few standout posters included Spice and Wolf II (Holo :3), Higurashi, Canaan, Saki (despite not liking the series) and Tayutama ~Kiss on my Deity~. The plastic board looks great but I would’ve preferred a pencil board or a mega poster instead. It’s just my preference as I generally don’t have much use with plastic boards. As already mentioned, the K-ON! master work booklet is a nice addition as well.

Your best chance to grab a copy will be at Hobby Search as it’s already ‘discontinued’ at HLJ. Seems to me, this month issue is a HOT one so don’t miss out.
