After reaching my 2nd year anniversary at my workplace, I decided it’s finally time to make the jump and get myself a laptop. Having a laptop is not required but beneficial with the ongoing changes in our systems and software that we use in today’s technology. My workflow demands  me to have a billion windows open and 1 or 2 monitoring tools up as well but with only 1 computer attached with 2 monitors, it’s getting to that point where I need a separate system to shift a 1/3 of these programs off.

So my journey began in either getting a Macbook or a general laptop. A few of my workmates hate Macs while the others find they are sturdy and will get the job done. Personally, I’m not a big Mac fan and I never truly understood why people said, “I am  never going back to windows again etc.” but I am a fan of learning new systems and software and owning a Mac will truly open my eyes in the OS area. ^^
Now during that time, Win7 was not officially out in Australia yet and I was in the process of saving up for my Singapore trip so I decided to postpone my purchase. When the Boxing Day sales came around, I decided to check out some deals on the latest laptops (with Win7 pre-installed) and macbooks and I thought, ‘it was now or never’.

So after much research and bargaining, I got myself 15″ Macbook Pro from Myer for just over 2000AUD. I got myself  a 12% off from the RRP (10% off was the original discount) and I could not be happier. My first intention was to go ahead with the 13″ but the deal got sweeter when I asked for the 15″ so it was natural for me to take the sweeter deal. lol
Because of  limited stock, they didn’t have one ready for me to take home that day so I had to wait for almost 3 weeks for my order to arrive.

So after a month of usage, I’m absolutely loving it. Mac OSX Snow Leopard is so easy to use and learn and it’s a great way in testing new systems and software. I do plan in installing Win7 on it but not right now as it’s not necessary at this point. My plan is to run Mac OSX and Win7 using VMware Fusion or Parallels in the near future.

So the question remains, am I a Mac lover or a PC lover? Have I been converted to the brink in hating Windows for good?
The answer is “NO”. I’ve been using and troubleshooting Windows for far too long to hate it. I know the little shortcuts and the (almost) in’s and out’s of Windows to even just forget about it. Mac OSX is a really useful OS and I can see a lot of potential in it but since it’s still relatively new to me, I’ve got a long way to go to fully understand it like I do with Windows and since I’m keen in getting my hands on to Win7, Windows is not going away from my life.
No matter how much I love the Mac, I will still need Windows and that’s my fact. xD

Currently over at Dannychoo. com, there is a “Your Desk” competition going on. The picture as seen above is my entry to the competition.

For the past 2 weeks, I have been reorganising my room slightly and this included my desk. Even if the competition was not gonna happen, I was intending to make a post update of my desk  so it was a somewhat perfect timing for the competition to happen. Looking through the entries already posted up, I know I have the slimmest chance of winning but honesty, I don’t care about winning because I’m in it for the fun of it, as always. ^^

Looking back at my first desk setup posted up, there really hasn’t been much change other than the fact,  I added my old 17″  LCD monitor to my system, replaced my old wireless router, got a new chair and added a lot more figures, figmas, nendo and nendo petits so that are within hands reach if I want some fun. ^^

Good ‘o Yellow Pages. They never seem to fail me in providing the right height adjustment.

Lots and lots of Figmas as they are the standout crowd on my desk. In time when I get the other half out of the box, I will show you the full extent of my craziness. xD

Here’s my new comfy desktop chair. I got it recently at Officeworks for $180 bucks but thanks to my bro Myer Grift card he gave me for Christmas, I was able to get it for $80 bucks which was sweet.

My Antec Sonata II and the bass of my Logitech Z-2300 Speakers. The cables gives me a headache when it comes to finding which cable is which. -_-

Last but not least, my 2 favourite nendoroids placed on my desk. I love Rin expression and the angry evilish look from Melissa Seraphy just brings a smile to my face. ^_^

Over the pass week or 2, I’ve seen some impressive rooms over many blogs  at Dannychoo.  Some were great and some just made me blink twice. xD
Well, without further holding back, let’s take a tour in my one. ^^

After the renovation several months ago, I’ve been taking my sweet ass time putting everything back out. While all of my scale figures are on display, I’m working slowly to unbox and display my figmas and sticking my posters up. As this is the 1st Version of my room post, I will give a 2nd Version when everything looks more complete.

I’m gonna dig right into it as what you see is how my workspace is setup. Yes, I’m not gonna lie. I cleaned it up before I took the shoot. ^^
That’s why the desk from the left where my printer is, is full of paper and other miscellaneous items everywhere but that is not important because I’m not showing you that area. lol

You maybe wondering what’s with the ‘funny’ title. Well, if you don’t already know, I am a figma doctor, master, FREAK, GEEK, well, call it whatever you want but my love for figmas is beyond control now and all of them in one place on my desk proves this love is not going away soon. I have already allocated space for my future arrivals so in my next desk post, u may see twice as more. xD

My System Unit and Bass. It’s the Antec Sonata II ATX case without the cover. I customed built my rig 4 years ago for gaming purpose but I didn’t game much. Now I use it for surfing the web, blogging, working, listening to music and watching anime. It still does the job efficiently so no need for an upgrade.
The only parts I added was more hard disk space, a new sound card and more memory.

My Bass is from the Logitech Z-2300 Speakers.

I got my 22″ monitor (Asus VW222U) a few months ago as I was not sastified in watching anime on my puny 17″ any more. I had the extra cash so I went big. ^^

My cup, tool box for my pens (made it at school ^^), cds, blank dvds etc.
My figure dusting brush is there as well (next to my ruler) while I was dusting my figmas. It’s actually a powder brush for ladies faces but I use it to dust my ladies completely. xD
What type of brush do you use to dust your ladies and gentlemen (if you have any) or do you need to dust them at all?

This space use to be full of dvds but due to my ever increasing figure collection, I had to make room for them. I have a fetish for charity bears because they are so adorable. It’s also for a good cause so it works both ways. ^^

And here is where most of my figmas are showcased. Included are some of my Simpson bottleheads, Miku and my D-Link router.

Lastly, here are a few posters and dangly things beside my desk. The mega Super Mario poster came from the official strategy guide and the nanoha and vita posters came from the monthy megami volumes.

I’m kinda tired today so I will make it quick.

I was intending to do an outdoor shoot on my figma haruhi but the weather was gloomy and windy so I passed. Instead, I was gonna do Part 1 of my Room post but I got interrupted by family matters.

You see, even though I’m on break from work, my parents make sure I’m kept busy at home. T_T
