About

A small desk with a point of view

The Disjointed Zone writes about music and the life around it: the noise, the taste, and the ordinary details in between. It is a small independent publication with its own ear, not a wire service and not a feed of announcements.

What you will find

Music is for listening notes and for how a record is put together. Scenes follows rooms, bills, and the people who keep a night running. Interviews are conversations with makers and bookers. Reviews judge a specific record or show on what you can actually hear. Culture picks up the clothes, posters, radio habits, and city routines that sit next to the songs.

The people

Alix Kern is editor-in-chief and works from Paris. Alix chooses the mix, edits every piece, and writes when a story sits between the music and the way a city uses it.

Nia Okonkwo is the scene correspondent, based in Leeds. She writes from small rooms and midweek bills, and she stays on what a night actually felt like from the door to the last song.

Tomás Ribeiro writes the reviews from Porto. He stays on arrangement, playing, and sequencing, and he keeps a piece short when the record does not earn more space.

Hanne Visser runs the interviews from Ghent. She talks with bookers, label runners, and musicians who would rather describe a room than a brand.
